Afterlife is a British black comedy-drama series by Ricky Gervais and he is the creator, writer, producer, and director of the series. He also happens to star in the series. Its an original Netflix series where season 1 was premiered on March 8, 2019. The second series was released this year on April 24, 2020.
The second season of The After Life had an abrupt and ambiguous end and just after 2 weeks after the second season was released, Netflix announced that they have renewed the series for its third season.
The series received lots of positive and favorable reviews on its release. The first season of the series received an approval rating of 74% were in the second season received an approval rating of 75% by Rotten Tomatoes. The series received mixed responses from the critics. The mush loved season 1 takes you to the main character of the series Tony, who is struggling to cope up with the loss of his wife Lisa who died from breast cancer. He thinks of committing suicide but later changes his mind and decides to live long.
He then starts living the way he wants without giving much regard to the world and the people around him. This was his way to punish the world for his wife’s death. He believes that he has some superpower until people around him intervene and agree to turn him into a better being.
In season two Tony loses his Dad. He is now left on sitting on the edge with a sword hanging question on his head over the potential relationship between his dad and the home care nurse who used to care for his elderly father. He is also seen showing some compassion to the world that he started to hate for his wife’s death.
Narrative of the expected season 3 is still under the wraps and there is not much information available. However, the end of season two which was quite ambiguous, gives us some available plots which could be the narrative for season three, like
Will Tony and Emma will get together?
Will Tony lose his job after the newspaper faces shutdown?
Will Tony get over the loss of his wife and dad, and will he stop punishing the world?
The show is expected to host the regulars of the 2 seasons life Ricky Gervais (Tony), Penelope Wilton (Anne), Ashley Jensen (Emma), Tom Basden (Matt), Tony Way (Lenny), David Earl (Brian), Joe Wilkinson (“Postman” Pat), Mandeep Dhillon (Sandy), Jo Hartley (June), Roisin Conaty (Roxy), Diane Morgan (Kath) and Ethan Lawrence (James).
We heard that the shooting for the season 3 could not be initiated due to pandemic COVID 19. The safety and health of the entire crew were more important. We are not sure that if the shooting has been resumed by now or no.
That would mean, fans might have to wait a little longer for the third season of their favorite show which was anyways expected in 2021. Any delays are not yet confirmed. It’s too early for any trailers to be out.
