Aldis Hodge is in talks to join New Line’s DC movie, Black Adam, as Hawkman. The action-adventure movie stars Dwayne Johnson in the titular role of the antihero from the DC comics. Hodge appeared alongside Elizabeth Moss in this year’s acclaimed The Invisible Man. He also stars in One Night in Miami, Regina King’s debut historical drama.

The film focuses on the character of Black Adam that was created as an archenemy to Shazam when the superhero was still known as Captain Marvel. It has grown into a more layered character since then but is still very much an antihero.

Hodge plays the role of Hawkman or Carter Hall as the present reincarnation is known who is a member of the Justice Society. The Society predates the Justice League. Hawkman is destined to be reincarnated through space and time since his first birth in Ancient Egypt as one of a pair of lovers.

He is a superhero with a pair of gigantic wings and the ‘nth metal’ which is an alien element that allows him to negate gravity and fly. He first appeared in 1940s Flash Comics No. 1.

Noah Centineo, playing Atom Smasher, is also a part of the film as are the characters of Cyclone and Doctor Fate, who have not been cast yet.

The film is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who directed Johnson in Jungle Cruise, the upcoming Disney adventure. Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. is one of the producers alongside Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions. All five also collaborated on Jungle Cruise together. Scott Sheldon of FlynnePictureCo. is the Executive Producer.

The script has been written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The previous draft was written by Adam Sztykiel.

They are supposed to begin shooting in Georgia next year.
