Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 1 Episode 1 Plot Details
Katara and Sokka are two brothers of the Southern Water Tribe and discover that the boy locked behind an iceberg floating on the sea after Katara in a fit of fury. They release him, and he presents himself as a hundred years long-extinct Aang, an Airbender of the Air Nomads. Aang and Appa join Katara and Sokka into their village, flying a six-legged sky bison. In the meantime, Prince Zuko from the Fire Nation is watching the Avatar, a fabled enormously strong tenderer, accompanied by his Uncle Iroh, to plough the four parts of the world together.
Katara says she’s a waterbender in Aang, but no other waterbender can teach her in the Southern Water Tribe. So Aang proposes that she find an instructor at the North Water Tribe. The opportunity of a meeting with an abandoned Fire Nation ship shows that the Fire Nation’s fight against other nations of the world for 100 years has not been known to Aang; Katara deduces that Aang must have frozen for at least thus much time.
The couple mistakenly fired a signal, warning Zuko that the Avatar is already in the vicinity. Aang has been expelled, over Katara’s protestations, after he has brought the village attention to the Fire Nation. Zuko will soon come down to the village demanding that the Avatar be given up to him. To defend him, Aang returns to the village, where he exposes himself to be the Avatar.
He surrenders to Zuko, provided the villagers are left alone, with the agreement of Zuko. On Appa, Katara and Sokka decide to follow Aang. Aang finally succeeds in getting rid of the guardians and fighting Zuko on the ship of Zuko. Aang is nearly beaten and almost drowned; then he spares in his ‘Avatar State, which has a fantastic show of waterbending, which overpowers Zuko and his troops through his eyes and tattoos. When three fly away from Appa, Aang and Katara will learn to swim water. After that, their course will be set for the North Pole.
