The third-person action-adventure game that premiered at last year’s PS5 June showcase, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, now has a release date for later this year.
As part of PlayStation’s February 2021 State of Play, Ember Lab revealed that on August 24, Kena would be released via the Epic Games Store on PS4, PS5, and PC. There will be both a $39.99 regular version and a $49.99 deluxe digital edition, which also contains the soundtrack of the game, an in-game silver staff, and exclusives for golden Rot skin. And whatever version you purchase on PlayStation entitles you to digital copies of it for both PS5 and PS4.
“To further polish and optimize for the best possible game, we’re taking the next few months. The completion of our first title during the pandemic was quite an experience. We are very pleased to share the new trailer and the launch date, “In a declaration alongside the release, Ember Lab COO Josh Grier said.
In addition to a new trailer for Kena, Ember Lab announced the release date, showing our first look at gameplay yet, including traversal around a variety of different locations, and some big battles against potential bosses. We learn more about Kena’s journey, too, and get a sense of some of the darkness of the world at play.
Kena was originally scheduled for release in 2020 but saw a delay to 2021 due to the development impacts of COVID-19, but we learned enough about Kena’s plot, war, and environment to tide over those awaiting the new game at the same time. During IGN’s Summer of Gaming, the developers had previously shared new Kena details.
