It’s fantastic news for fans of John Cena’s Peacemaker, who was one of the most memorable characters in DC’s The Suicide Squad. A Peacemaker TV spinoff is presently in development for HBO Max.
We now know more about The Suicide Squad’s title character, including why he deserves a spinoff over characters like Ratcatcher 2 and the Polka Dot Man. The series may arrive around the same time as HBO Max in Australia since Binge tends to carry most HBO shows locally. Writer/director/creator James Gunn has teased a second season of the programme.
Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee will play Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad aides in Peacemaker, and John Cena himself will play Christopher Smith (another part of the Suicide Squad logistics team).
Along with Danielle Brooks and Robert Patrick, who will play Peacemaker’s father, Auggie Smith and Adrian Chase / Vigilante, respectively, Arrow fans are sure to recognise the names of Danielle Brooks and Robert Patrick.
Rizwan Manji, Alida Araya, Lenny Jacobson and Nhut Le as Judomaster round out the cast, including Christopher Heyerdahl of the genre fame.
A new storey with a more grounded tone will be told in Peacemaker, according to Gunn. There are many similarities to The Suicide Squad. Still, there are also many differences, including the fact that the film is more subdued in certain respects, Gunn told The Hollywood Reporter. In addition, a different set of people is the focus of the story. Thus it’s a little bit more social.
John Cena will portray Peacemaker, but Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo will also play a major role. Peacemaker is the only thing we know about this character, but we know she’ll play a key role in grounding the programme.
So “grounded” is used loosely in this context, as Gunn describes it taking place within a larger science fiction tale. But what we do know is incredibly intriguing.
It was only reasonable to expect that John Cena’s Peacemaker would survive the end of The Suicide Squad and that his destiny would be revealed in the Peacemaker spinoff film.
Peacemaker will be both a sequel and a prequel, according to James Gunn. Peacemaker’s roots will be explored in the programme. Still, it will also continue The Suicide Squad, following Peacemaker after he heals after being shot by Idris Elba’s Bloodsport character.

According to Gunn, there’s a scene in Bloodsport where Bloodsport talks about what his father was like while Peacemaker nods in agreement.
This is the genesis of the entire Peacemaker series. ” Peacemaker’s father, played by Robert Patrick, tells us where he’s from, what he’s done, what it means to him, and where he’s heading once all of this has happened just because he is a nasty guy and not evil.
More information regarding HBO Max’s Peacemaker spinoff is likely to emerge after The Suicide Squad’s pre-release hype cycle ends and we move into the DC Extended Universe’s wild and bizarre future.
