A comic action film starring and produced by Ryan Reynolds, Free Guy is set in the 1980s. Expected to the epidemic, the movie’s release date has been moved back three times, and it’s now due to hit theatres nearly a year later.
Guy, a bank teller and unlikely hero, faces the biggest test of his life in the new film, which blends action, humour, and sci-fi genres.
The release date for Free Guy is Friday, August 13th. In the BBC spy series Killing Eve, Jodie Comer, who played everyone’s fave anti-hero, Vilanelle, will act alongside Reynolds as Guy.
Joe Keery from Stranger Things and Lil Rel Howery, well known for his part in the Oscar-winning film Get Out, are also on hand to support the two.
“Free City” is an open-world video game in which Guy realises that he is a background character. The game is going to be shut down, shattering Guy’s reality.
Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s favourite Ryans, having appeared in a number of action movies, including Marvel’s Deadpool trilogy, The Green Lantern, and Michael Bay’s 6 Underground.
He’s also no stranger to rom-coms, having played Sandra Bullock’s leading guy in The Proposal, as well as in The Change-up (2011) and Definitely, Maybe (2008).
