For all those who love science fiction and future world storylines, Altered Carbon is one of such series. It shows not so utopian or cultured humanly society in a future time. As far as the technology used and the effects created we must say that it’s a great job done and has excited the audience. A soldier turned investigator has the task of solving a murder mystery in a world where there is a possibility of consciousness being induced in different bodies. Takeshi Kovacs, the only surviving soldier from a rebel group crushed in revolt against the new world order.
The first season showed a story of 250 years ago where the Envoys are defeated and ruined. This soldier is released by a millionaire and is asked to solve his own murder so that he can get a second shot to life. The second season which saw a jump of 30 years has Kovacs, who is searching his lost love and ambassador Quellcrist Falcone. An American sci-fi web series Altered Carbon created by Laeta Kalogridis is based on the novel of the same name written by English author Richard K. Morgan.
Netflix showed the first season with ten episodes which were premiered on February 2, 2018, and on July 27, 2018, the series was signed off for the second season with eight episodes. The second season of web series was released on February 27, 2020. March 19, 2020, animation movie on the same was launched too.
This web series has done a good job and has been positively received. The second season was launched in February 2020 and is too early for Netflix to decide for a season three. Reception till date has been positive however it still needs to be watched for some more time. Another theory about why we have not heard about season three as of now can be because of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic across the longitudes and latitudes of the world. All new and ongoing projects have been put on hold so it’s possible that this might be the reason. We will have to wait for some official words from the makers on the same.
