Like many Disney movies this year, Artemis Fowl released directly on Disney+ instead of theaters due to the ongoing Pandemic. Although the reviews from the critics weren’t great, will Disney still go ahead a make a second part? Let’s find out
The movie is Sci-Fi, adventure movie based on the novel series by Irish author Eoin Colfer. It follows Artemis Fowl II, a 12-year old prodigy who with the help of his servant (a dwarf) and a fairy tries to rescue his father Artemis Fowl I who is kidnapped by another fairy who wants to reclaim the item that Fowl family has stolen.
The movie was originally intended to launch way back in 2001 but the development was never completed and it was later acquired by Walt Disney Picture in 2013. The filming of the movie began in 2018 in places around Europe. The movie was recently launched worldwide on Disney+ on June 12, 2020. The movie wasn’t loved by the critics but since it was released on Disney+ we don’t know how well it did and how many people watched it so we can’t be sure whether or Disney will make the 2nd part.
When Will It Release
The 1st part, of the movie, was released recently and we still aren’t sure whether the movie will have a second part or not so it is still early to set a release date. However, if the movie is made we will probably see it in 2022 or later since the shooting for the movie wouldn’t start until next year. We will let you know a date as soon as we have one.
Cast
The 1st movie didn’t have any deaths so we will likely see most of the cast return for the 2nd part if they decide to make it. We will definitely see Ferdia Shaw as Artemis Fowl II, Lara McDonnell as Holly Short, Josh Gad as Mulch Diggums, Tamara Smart as Juliet Butler, and Nikesh Patel as Foaly again in the 2nd part. The movie credits didn’t show who played the role of Opal Koboi so we see someone take that role in the next part. Also, it was announced Miranda Raison will be playing Artemis’s mother Angeline however we didn’t see her in the 1st part so maybe she will be there in the second part.
What Will Be The Storyline?
In the 1st part, we saw Artemis kidnapping Holly short because he knows the LEPRecon will send in Mulch Diggums who will then make it easier for him to find the Aculos that Opal Koboi wants in exchange of his father. Since he knows that it is hidden somewhere in the Fowl Manor but doesn’t exactly know where. We will likely see Artemis and co track Opal down since she wasn’t shown in the 1st movie.
