HBO announced the Season 2 renewal of Avenue shortly after the premiere of Season 1. The first season premiered on HBO on January 19, 2020, and the running time for each episode was 28-29 minutes on March 15, 2020.
“We loved every minute of Avenue 5’s opening journey,” said HBO Programing Executive Vice President Amy Gravitt at the time. “Armando and his team are masters of intelligent and incisive comedy, and the ensemble cast includes none other than Hugh Laurie.”We can’t wait to see what our disgraced heroes have in store packed for us in season two to excite us even more.”
Avenue 5 Season 2 has not been updated since then. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused a production halt and fans will have to wait a bit long than usual. Although HBO has yet to announce a release date for the second season, some reports indicate Avenue 5 S2 will be released in 2021.
The Hollywood reporter told the series’ creator, Armando Iannucci, “The first six episodes are already planned, and the final three will most likely be released next month. It primarily affects people who are isolated.”
The creator went on to say, “So we’ll have to wait and see how the pitching mood is. Will it be dull despair or utter stupidity? Or is it stupid desperation? I’m not convinced. I’m not convinced. We attempted to make season one as absurd as possible, but it appears to have devolved into a sort of documentary on current events.”
Avenue 5 Season 2 is the much-anticipated continuation of the first season. Avenue 5 will be laid down for the next forty years, primarily in space. This is a science fiction ship about a cruise ship that begins to survive with limited food and supplies following the accidental death of its Chief Engineer until they return to Earth.
