Borat is a mockumentary (movie or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary) by the acclaimed comedian Sacha Baron Cohen following the life of Borat, a journalist from Kazakhstan who comes to America to learn about the American way of living.

It is a satirical comedy with gross-out humor. Cohen is absolutely hilarious and the way he brings out the internalized prejudice of various Americans is eye-opening and comical. It really makes us wonder about the kind of facade we put up.

Though he has received quite a bit of backlash for his racist portrayal of Borat, this movie made it to mainstream success. Cohen went on to create many more controversial and priceless characters but none of those got the kind of reach Borat got. It is a wonder how he is unfazed by the number of death threats he gets from the people he has offended and goes on to make the content he loves.

Even as a little girl, I was fascinated by words. The idea of stringing words together to form meaningful sentences which could alter the emotions of other human beings excited me. At first I wrote fiction. It gave me a chance to live the different lives I’ve always wanted to. The way my friends reacted when they read my story gave me the greatest of joys. As I grew older, I realised that there are thousands of stories of people around me that deserved to be told. Then I started incorporating their stories to my fictional stories. Over the time, I leaned more towards article writing. I have always felt that writing is my super power. A power I could wield to bring joy and comfort to me and the people I care about.
