Created by J.G. Quintel, Close Enough is an adult animated sitcom to be aired on HBO Max. It was revealed In October 2019 that the series will be made available on HBO Max instead of TBS. But there was more following it as on May 13, 2020, the news came that series will be launched on July 9, 2020.
For the members of the 2020 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, on June 15, 2020, the first episode was released early. The premise shown is of a duplex apartment where a young couple in their twenty’s live. They have a five-year-old daughter and divorced friends who live with them in the house.
The story is about how this young couple who has reached adulthood early is struggling between being a parent, friends, dealing with ham thief, stripper clown, and selecting the right daycare. A story about how they evolve from their twenty’s to thirty’s.
We will get to see J. G. Quintel as Josh who is Emily’s husband, Candice’s father and is working as a video game developer,
Gabrielle Walsh as Emily, wife of Josh and mother of Candice’s who is working as an assistant for a food corporation,
Jessica DiCicco as Candice, the five-year-old daughter of Josh and Candice, Jason Mantzoukas as Alex, best friend of Josh and Bridgette’s ex-husband who is working as a community college professor,
Kimiko Glenn as Bridgette, she is Alex’s ex-wife and is a social media influencer who often gets arrested by the LAPD,
Danielle Brooks as Pearle, house owner and a retired LAPD cop and James Adomian as Randy, he is Pearle’s adopted son and also the building’s property manager. The voice-over has been done by J.G. Quintel, Gabriella Walsh, Jason Mantzoukas, Kimiko Glenn, Jessica DiCicco, James Adomian, and Danielle Brooks.
The story as per episode one looks something like Emily is stressed where Bridgette tries to help her by calming down her nerves. Josh, Ales, and daughter Candice help her by finishing her task list which also includes getting ham from factory. The trio steals some ham but meets stripper clowns that Alex owed money to. Josh challenges them in a video game to save lives and is helped by Emily at the last minute to win the match. Bridgette makes it up with one of the clowns.
