“Crazy Rich Asians” writer collaborates with the Emily in Paris star for a new comedy movie.

Crazy Rich Asians writer Adele Lim will make her directorial debut with a new comedy film. Lim co-hosts Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park as the leader in the film.

Lim has previously written for television shows such as Dynasty, Life on Mars, and One Tree Hill, as well as the recent Disney animated film Raya and the Last Dragon.

Park recently portrayed Mindy Chen in the Netflix series Emily in Paris. She also played Ashley Gold in the Peacock series Girls5eva. Throughout her career, Park was nominated for both Tony and Grammy awards.

This R-rated comedy follows four female Asian Americans as they travel through Asia together in search of one of their mothers.

Throughout the film, the women connect and form true friendships as they celebrate and learn what it means to be true to themselves and to love one another.

Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao, co-creators of the Queen’s Awkwafina’S Nora, wrote the script, with Lim working on it.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will also serve as producers on the project, which has yet to be given a release date.

Ashley Park starred in R-rated comedy ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

Adele will direct the film, she is best known for her work on Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon.

The film will follow “four Asian American women as they travel throughout Asia in search of one of their birth mothers.” Their journey becomes one of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery, revealing the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.”

Adele Lim talked about some of her previous projects

Adele Lim, best known for her work on the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians, also wrote the story for the  Disney CGI fantasy adventures Raya and The Last Dragon. Adele Lim revealed that the producers anchored her in love because of the fantastic tone of its latest effort. Adele Lim was also inspired by “Raya And The Last Dragon.”

Adele Lim stated in a statement  that one of the tones they wanted to set for this film was their love for the world, family, and joy. She went on to say that they wanted to find emotional anchors for the character and journey in this fantastic project based on something true and related.

 She also stated that she wished to research emotions. She stated that by looking at Raya and her journey (the main character), you can see that she is losing her relationship with her father. The world she was born in, and that it is necessary to fight for a chance to rebuild her world and, perhaps, one day, to see her father again! They wanted to explore these emotions while also making the film happy, fun, and exciting.
