Creed 3 is a significant departure from the previous two films.
Sylvester Stallone’s veteran boxer Rocky Balboa mentors longtime rival Apollo Creed’s son Adonis (Michael B Jordan) as the next great champion in the franchise.
Unfortunately, the relationship will end because Sly’s representative told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor will not reprise his role as Rocky in the third instalment.
There are currently no information about why Stallone will not reteam with Michael B Jordan and producer Ryan Coogler, nor on how Rocky will be written out of the franchise.
In December, the third Creed film was announced, along with the news that Jordan will direct the sequel in addition to starring in it.
Jordan will be following in the footsteps of Sylvester Stallone by directing a Creed film, as Sly directed four films in the Rocky franchise.
Zach Baylin, who wrote Will Smith’s biopic King Richard about Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams, will pen the script.
Fans should expect more Rocky films in the future, as Stallone recently recut Rocky IV. One of the modifications was to return Paulie’s notorious robot “forever to the junkyard.”
The Rocky legend is also set to reteam with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn for The Suicide Squad, in which he will play the viral hit character King Shark.
Last year, Gunn said, “I still love working with my friend @officialslystallone & our work today on #TheSuicideSquad was no exception.”
“Despite the fact that Sly is an iconic movie star, most people are unaware of what an incredible actor he is.” On November 23, 2022, Creed 3 will be announced.
