We’re thrilled to learn that the hit Showtime series Dexter will return for a limited ten-episode run after nearly a decade away. From 2008 through 2013, the original series, which portrayed the convoluted and tormented life of a blood-spatter specialist who moonlighted as a serial murderer, aired for eight seasons.
The show’s conclusion, in which Dexter Morgan faked his death and went on a self-imposed exile, sparked outrage among viewers, so let’s hope the upcoming season makes up for it.
Dexter Revival Series – When will it release?
The next episodes’ release date has now been revealed! Dexter: New Blood will premiere on Sunday, November 7 at 9 p.m. The series’ production began in Massachusetts in February 2021 and ended in July 2021.
In the United States, the show will air on Showtime. Although it has not been confirmed, it appears that UK fans will be able to watch the resurrection on Sky, considering that seasons one through eight are still available to stream on Sky via NOW TV.
Dexter Revival Series – Who will be casting?
When the program returns, fans can expect to see several new faces, including Clancy Brown, who will play the series’ primary villain. The actor, well known for his performance in The Shawshank Redemption, will play Kurt Caldwell, a truck stop owner and the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake.
Julia Jones, best known for her role as Bo Adams on the NBC television series Believe, will also feature as Angela, the town’s Chief of Police, while Johnny Sequoyah, best known for her role as Bo Adams on the NBC television series Believe, will portray her outspoken and opinionated teenage daughter Audrey.
Teddy, a timid and inexperienced rookie officer in town, will be played by David Magidoff, well known for his role on The Morning Show. According to Deadline, Jack Alcott will play Randall, a figure “with whom Dexter has an important meeting.” Oscar Wahlberg, Alano Miller, and Jamie Chung, widely known for her performance in Lovecraft Country, are all expected to appear.
Of course, Michael C. Hall will resume his role as Dexter Morgan in the series. The last time viewers saw him, he was cutting up wrongdoers instead of trees as he assumed a new identity as a lumberjack in the Pacific Northwest.
Speaking about the forthcoming resurrection, the actor told Daily Beast that he shares fans’ dissatisfaction with the original series’ “unsatisfying” finale and hopes that the new series would make up for it. “Let’s be honest: people considered the show’s ending to be disappointing, and there was always the expectation that a tale worth telling would emerge.”
Dexter Revival Series – What will be the storyline be about?
The next Dexter series will be ten episodes long and will take place ten years after the events of season eight. There aren’t many specifics about what will happen on the program yet, but we do know that Dexter has relocated from Miami to a tiny hamlet in upstate New York named Iron Lake.
