DI RAY is a new crime drama due to premiere on ITV in the coming months, and this guide will tell you all you need to know about it, from the release date to the narrative. DI Ray is a four-part drama developed by Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio that focuses on Detective Inspector Rachita Ray’s life and profession (played by Parminder Nagra). ITV, which has a reputation of creating spectacular dramas, will air the series, which is set in the West Midlands, namely Birmingham.

Release Date

Following the show’s recent approval, production on the four-part series is scheduled to commence in the coming months. This implies that once shooting begins, the drama will take several weeks to film, and the scenes will have to be stitched together to complete the piece.

Unfortunately, this implies that the show will most likely not be published until next year, with the drama airing in the spring. When filming is over, fans will be given a better sense of when they may expect to see the suspense unfold. Maya Sondhi, who portrayed Manreet Binha on Line of Duty, has spent the last few months penning the drama and is eager for it to be delivered to the small screen.

Casting Members

Parminder Nagra, well known for her role as Jess Bhamra in Bend It Like Beckham, will play DI Ray in the four-part series. She has her own character in the Marvel Universe, portraying Ellen Nadeer in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., in addition to playing Dr. Neela Rasgotra in many seasons of the American medical drama ER. “I am very looking forward to coming to the UK after such a difficult period across the world to be a part of this exciting new production,” she said of getting cast in the ITV drama. It’s unclear who else will feature in the Birmingham-based drama, but additional details will be released when they become available.

Story

DI Ray’s tale will begin when the officer is promoted to join a homicide investigation. It quickly becomes obvious that there is a reason she was picked for the position, as she is informed that the murder case is Culturally Specific.

Despite her years of service, the heroine of the story begins to wonder if her ancestry, rather than her skill set, has propelled her up the corporate ladder. Unafraid of her position’s prejudices, the investigator set out to discover the perpetrator and bring him to justice.

Unfortunately, this is not a simple case, as the DI finds herself drawn into the realm of organized crime. As the tale progresses, it becomes obvious that DI Ray has a personal purpose to investigate as she attempts to understand her own identity.

Her ethnicity has required her to work harder than her coworkers, and she begins to wonder whether it would have been easier if she had been white.

“Everyone at HTM Television is pleased to be partnering with writer Maya Sondhi, director Alex Pillai, and actor Parminder Nagra on such a thought-provoking series,” executive producer Jed remarked of the concept and the mastery behind the drama.

Trailer

Because the program has yet to begin production, there is no trailer for the four-part series, but one is expected to be produced in the weeks coming up to the debut.
