The Amazon Studios has obtained the worldwide right for the movie of Eddie Murphy, namely Coming 2 America.
The studio said in their statement that it bought John Landis’ sequel comedy of 1988, which is Coming to America that they have obtained from Paramount Pictures.
The movie will stream on Amazon Prime studios on 5th March 2021.
The movie circles around Prince Akeem starred by Murphy, who is a fictional character from Zumanda, Africa, who arrived at New York and got employed in McDonalds, while looking out for a perfect match.
The Head of Amazon Studio, Jennifer Salke, said about Coming to America that, “Thanks to Eddie Murphy’s comedic genius along with the brilliant filmmakers, writers and fabulous cast, we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this new adventure. We know audiences around the world will fall in love with this hilarious, joyful movie that will surely become a timeless favourite.”
In the meanwhile, Kevin Misher, the producer said, “What could be better than a return to Zamunda? We are so excited for Amazon Studios to bring Eddie Murphy and ”Coming 2 America” to a worldwide audience where they can laugh again with characters they have loved for 30 years, and meet new ones that they will love for years to come.”
The old cast members, who will make a return are Shari Headley, Louie Anderson, James Earl Jones, and John Amos.
