Just when you’ve finished cleaning up the glitter from Season 1, it’s time to let it loose once more, as the two-year wait for Euphoria Season 2 comes to an end.

Fans would be ecstatic to learn that perhaps the eagerly anticipated follow-up to the first season of 2019 and specials, which will air in late 2020 and early 2021 at the earliest, is finally happening after being delayed by Covid-19 – and while we don’t know when it will air again, we do know it’s officially in production now.

Euphoria’s first season began in June 2019 and was such a hit that it was already renewed for a second season before the finale aired. For its spectacular inaugural season, the program was nominated for a BAFTA and a TCA Award, while lead actress Zendaya was nominated for an Emmy for Best Actress in a Series.

The first season featured high school student Rue (played by Zendaya ) as she recovered from drug addiction and dealt with sex, drugs, romance, cat fishing, and other issues with her friends. as well as a great deal of trauma

Here’s everything we know about Season 2’s Euphoria, from the expected premiere date to which actors will return and what we know about the story.

Euphoria Season 2 – Release Date

Season 2 of Euphoria was supposed to start filming in March 2020, however owing to Covid-19, it was pushed back a few days. In an interview with InStyle in August 2020, Zendaya said, “There is a lovely second season that has been written, but we have to wait till it’s safer to execute it the way we want.”

Season 2 is now back in production, thus it appears that the moment has arrived. Zendaya posted images from the production on her Instagram Story on May 4, 2021, writing one shot of Angus Cloud, who portrays Fez in the film series, “I’ve adored that child,” and another team shot, “And those kids.”

“Just being back in General… I missed it,” the actress continued, referencing the official Euphoria page.

Meanwhile, Cassie’s actress, Sydney Sweeney, uploaded a selfie on Instagram on March 24 of this year, from the grooming chair, with what seems to be a glam Cassie haircut and makeup, with the comment “She’s back.”

In an early 2021 interview with IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast, show creator and showrunner Sam Levinson stated that production for Euphoria season 2 will begin in late March, and based on the cast’s social media updates, that plan looks to be on track. “The aim is to release episodes this year,” Levinson said in the same interview, “so that’s hopefully [when they release].”

With that in mind, it appears like season 2 of Euphoria will be released before the end of 2021. We may anticipate it to air on HBO in the United States and Sky Atlantic and Now in the United Kingdom, much as the first and its specials.

Euphoria Season 2 – Cast Members

Rue’s destiny was one of the largest unanswered mysteries at the end of Season 1: the series concluded with Rue abandoning her intention to leave town with Jules, followed by the bizarre and sad song and dance number “We all.” Zendaya’s own song. Many people assumed that the closing scenes depicted Rue relapsing – maybe in a rough sense.

But, after course, we knew Zendaya is back for Season 2, and we know Rue is still alive, owing to the first special, which showed she’s still Jules and was published in December 2020. Similarly, despite the fact that Jules left town for town in the final moments of Season 1 after Rue abandoned their plan to run away together, we learn that Jules has returned home in the second episode of the special, where she is also visited by Rue for the first time since Rue’s previous meeting with Ali.

HBO has yet to announce the precise second season cast list, but we can anticipate major members of the Season 1 ensemble cast to return, including:

  •         Rue Bennett as Zendaya
  •         Hunter Schaefer as Jules Vaughn
  •         Sidney Sweeney as Cassie Howard
  •         Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs
  •         Barbie Ferreira as Cat Hernandez
  •         Angus Claude did them
  •         Maddie Perez as Alexa Demi
  •         Leslie Bennett as Nika King
  •         Gia Bennett as Hurricane Reed
  •         Elgi Smith as Christopher McKay
  •         Maud Apatow as Lexi Howard
  •         Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs
  •         Coleman as Domingo Ali

We may also expect fresh additions to the ensemble cast. While the cast has yet to be finalized, we do know that the next season will feature at least four new speaking characters, owing to character descriptions given on the casting call.

Euphoria Season 2 – Plotline

The plot of the second season is being kept under wraps, but luckily, we’ve been given some intriguing indications about each of the cast members’ characters in the upcoming season.

As reports claim, Jia, Rue’s younger sister is also expected to play a greater part this season. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Storm Reid, who plays Jia, remarked, “I believe you’ll see a lot more Jia in the second season.” Meanwhile, in an interview with Yahoo, Reid stated that [Gia’s] The character progresses in a positive way… She develops into her own person, with her own narrative. I don’t want to give too much away, but she’ll be a bigger part in Season 2 than she was in Season 1.

After a traumatic first season, Cassie will have a particularly “crazy” plot, according to actress Sidney Sweeney. The actress hinted at what could have caused it in an interview with StyleCaster. “I can tease it, but when you ask about Season 2, my heart sinks.

You have no idea what you’re seeing… Cassie needs to get her act together. I’m sorry, but I’m at a loss for words.

Cassie’s storey in Season 2 is shockingly strange. My mouth drops to the floor every time I read a new episode written by Sam, and I can’t believe it’s coming from someone’s mind.” So, as soon as the next batch of episodes arrives, you’ll have a lot more to look forward to.
