Fans have been eagerly waiting for the green light to be given to the BBC-HBO co-production His Dark Materials’ third season. And guess what? You would be extremely happy to know that your request has been finally heard and the series has been eventually renewed for yet another installment (Season 3). However, as you may already know, it has been confirmed that this season would be the final season of the show and here’s everything you need to know about it.
The production will begin in Cardiff in 2021, as confirmed by the BBC. The previous two season aired in November 2019 and 2020 respectively. Both the season were shot back to back and it was therefore easier to release them in the right sequence. However, it does not seem likely that we will get to witness the final eight episodes in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As of now, scriptwriters are working on the script of the season. In fact, there were rumors regarding rewriting the script as they want to give it a final new angle to the story. When it comes to the trailer of the show, we would need to wait for a longer time to witness it as the filming has not commenced yet. However, we believe that we can get to witness a glimpse of the show sometime in July at San Diego Comic-Con (or the Virtual Comic-Con@Home).
When it comes to the cast, the BBC has also confirmed the list of cast and crew members who would be returning to complete this project. The list includes Mrs Coulter (Ruth Wilson), Lyra (Dafne Keen), Dr. Mary Malone (Simone Kirby), Will (Amir Wilson), Serafina Pekkala (Ruth Gedmintas), Lord Asriel (James McAvoy), Ruta Skadi (Jade Anouka), among the others.
