The media-centered franchise of “Fast and Furious” was formed upon the release of the 2001 action thriller film “The Fast and Furious”. After the remarkable response from the fans, seven more sequels to the film were released. Even now, about two decades later, the fandom is thriving. This long-standing success of these films has led to the production of the ninth film.
Release date of F9 The Fast Saga
The trailer to the film was released on February 1, 2020, and was highly welcomed by the fans. The introduction of Jakob Toretto- Dominic Toretto’s brother, played by John Cena has increased the hype of the movie too. The film is expected to be released on 31st March 2021.
The cast of the new movie
Vin Diesel will be playing Dom Toretto, the protagonist of the franchise. His love interest Letty Ortiz will be played by Michelle Rodriguez. The main antagonist cyberterrorist Cipher will be played by Charlize Theron. The character of Han Seoul-Oh, who first appeared in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, will be played by Sung Kang. And Cardi-B will be playing the role of Leysa.
The plot of the film
The importance of familial bonds is a recurrent theme in the Fast and Furious movies.
“When I left after Fast 6, I really thought that was it, like, there are no more Fast stories I can tell,” Lin said. “Then two years ago, I woke up with an idea for the new chapter. And a big part of that is exploring this theme of family that is always tied to Fast, but doing it through the blood.”
One of the most famous lines is that of Dom saying, “I don’t have friends, I got family.”
This movie explores the idea of strained relationships between Dom and his brother who has always lived in his shadow trying to be better than him. This inferiority complex of Jakob is being used in advantage by the villains. They are using him to finish off Dom and Jakob seems to be more than happy to do so.
In the trailer, you can hear Cipher saying, “Your whole life you’ve pushed yourself to be faster than Dom. Better than Dom. Stronger than Dom.” It is also clear from the trailer that this movie will be more action-packed and filled with mind-boggling racing than ever before!
How is Han back to life?
Han first appeared in the third movie of the franchise “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift”. His chilled-out attitude and approach towards life won the hearts of the fans. But unfortunately, he was “killed” in the same film.
But at the end of F9’s trailer we see him come back, carrying his same carefree attitude and absentmindedly munching on some food (a habit he acquired since he stopped smoking cigarettes)
Though we don’t exactly know how he survived, we can safely say that he is back with no less swagger! But one of the strong inspirations for his return is #JusticeForHan hashtag shared by the fans.
What happens after F9?
Fast and Furious series producer Neal Moritz has claimed that there will be one more film (which has not been titled yet). But the tenth film would most likely be the last film of the series.
