The SpringHill Company is a production company founded by NBA player LeBron James and media personality Maverick Carter. The company was set up in 2007 and has produced many shows such as the documentary series “Becoming” in partnership with Disney XD, the animated web series The LeBrons, etc.
Recently the company started focusing more on public welfare. When LeBron James commented on his political beliefs, the conservative journalist on Fox News asked him to “shut up and dribble”. This inspired the company to produce a new series called “Shut Up and Dribble” (turns the joke on Laura) stating the importance of the turning dynamics of the political moves of sportspersons.
Recently the company has signed its first deal with Universal, the American film studio owned by NBC, with whom LeBron James and Maverick Carter have already partnered.
The pact they signed extends for four years and three projects are already in line for production including Catch the Wave, New Kid, and James Project (based on the book Shooting Stars by James and Buzz Bissinger).
Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Chairman Donna Langley pointed out that they were happy and satisfied to be working with the SpringHill Company because the studio has always been looking for people to tell stories that would “move the culture forward” and James and Carter do just that.
The SpringHill company has expressed their pleasure to be working with Universal Studios as well by saying that “We’re proud to be partnering with a studio that makes telling diverse stories a mandate and not an option.”
