Whole Story!
Since The Comedy Store opened in 1972 on Sunset Boulevard, it has entertained people for almost five decades. Formerly called Ciro’s nightclub, it has been a hub for the biggest stars.
According to the sources, the Showtime is coming with a five-part docu-series called ‘The Comedy Store’. Moreover, writer-director and former comic Mike Binder will return to this famous comedy club to have a chat and interview celebrities.
In the last few years, Binder has conducted new interviews with Whoopi Goldberg, Jim Carrey, Jay Leno, Chris Rock, as well as David Letterman in the late Mitzi Shore’s iconic club.
Moreover, the comedian also interviewed other stars like Sandra Bernhard, Richard Lewis, Bob Saget, Howie Mandel, Jeff Ross, Marc Maron, Roseanne Barr, Andrew Dice Clay, as well as Jerry Seinfeld.
As per our research, the series will spotlight interviews, backstage shenanigans, and great routines. It will all reveal the comedy’s darker sides like labor strikes, overdoses, feuds, as well as the premature deaths of Sam Kinison, Freddie Prinze, and Richard Pryor.
Currently, The Comedy Store is closed since the pandemic started. Peter Shore had proposed an idea for outdoor performances while maintaining the social distance.
Binder suggested looking at the current situation, people need to laughs, hence, so government should consider reclassifying the comedy clubs as important businesses to entertain audience.
Furthermore, he has a strong notion that post pandemic ends, all the comedy clubs are going to flourish instantaneously.
After quitting comedy, Binder became busier with filmmaking and acting. He did not take part in comedy for 20 years, but then Peter Shore (Mitzi’s son) Mike Tollin proposed an idea to create a documentary, and he said yes. Binder says that his docu-series is coming out at a perfect time.
People need more fun and entertainment during election days. Furthermore, he stated that citizens of the United States are so inundated with all the serious topics like election campaigns, politics, and coronavirus. He said that it is a really good counterprogramming.

Binder wants people to watch this documentary, which is only about laughter and comedians. There will be good stuff to love and to keep you entertained in the five hours series.
