After the tragic and extremely disheartening death of Simon Thomas’s first wife Gemma, the former Blue Peter presenter marries his gorgeous girlfriend of four years Derrina Jebb. The absolutely beautiful pair started seeing each other a year after Simon’s first wife’s death and are now happily married on 4th July, 2021. This happy news was announced by the former Sky Sports presenter on Sunday with a picture from his wedding day which he uploaded on his Instagram handle. The wedding took place in Norwich Cathedral. In the picture Simon (48 years of age) and Derrina (30 years of age) were walking down the church aisle in their wedding attire and they are seen to be surrounded by their loved ones.
The couple is looking spectacular in their wedding attire and their smiles are just enough of an ornament they need as it is reflecting true and pure happiness. Derrina is looking stunning in her a white off-the-shoulder wedding dress which featured a long train and veil and on the other hand Simon is looking as charming as he is, or maybe more in a blue suit and white tie. The newly-wed couple is beaming with joy while holding each other’s hand. The photo is captioned by two simple words which are looking to be very promising, ‘Love. Wins’ it states.
Jamie Redknapp, David Jones and Natalie Pirks who has worked with Simon before when he used to be a presenter on Sky Sports, were among the famous people who wished the couple with all the good wishes. The absolute favorite of CBBC, Fearne Cotton wrote: “This is just wonderful! Sooooo much love from the Wood family,” while Angellica Bell added: “Thank you for letting us share your special day.” Richard Bacon who was also the presenter of Blue Peter wrote his best wishes as, “Wow that’s wonderful. Congratulations.”
Simon and his first wife Gemma had an adorable son Ethan who is 11 years of age, served as the best man at his father’s second marriage. Thomas posted a picture of his son, while he was giving his speech at the wedding and captioned it by adding, “I couldn’t have asked for two better best men – my legend of a mate @danjmritchie and Ethan whose speech was just . . . well . . . amazing. We’re so so proud of him.”
Simon was married to Gemma until her sudden death on November 24 of 2017, just three days after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer named acute myeloid leukaemia. Acute myeloid leukaemia is an aggressive form of cancer of the myeloid cells, with only 3,100 cases in the UK each year, mostly in people over 80. Symptoms of the disease include unusual bruising and bleeding, feeling tired, losing weight and breathlessness.
