Netflix has unveiled the main cast for the new young adult comedy series Freeridge, which is a spin-off of their highly successful show On My Block, which recently completed its fourth and final season.
The spin-off will star Bryana Salaz (Team Kaylie), Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 11, Growing Fangs), Ciara Riley Wilson (LA’s Finest, Kim Possible), and Shiv Pai (Iron Fist, Uncut Gems).

On Freeridge, Uyeshiro, Gonzalez, and Haft will also act as co-showrunners. ” Co-creating and running On My Block has been and will continue to be a source of joy in my life.”
“I am extremely pleased to pass the baton to my fantastic partners Eddie and Jeremy, as well as the exceptional Jamie Uyeshiro, who rocked this in the writing room from day one,” Lungerich said when Netflix took up Freeridge.
This is where things get complex; because it’s a seeded spin-off, we suspect some filming has already taken place, given that a spin-off pilot might air in season 4 of On My Block.

Season 3 of All American: Homecoming received a seeded spin-off, which has now been greenlit as a full-fledged series. It is unclear how this will affect On My Block. Otherwise, we’ve been assured that further filming will begin in Los Angeles later this fall.
