Ghostbusters Afterlife is an American supernatural scientific fiction comedy movie series directed by Jason Reitman. It is written by Reitman and Gil Kenan. The cast had Mckenna Grace as Phoebe, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor, Carrie Coon as Callie, Paul Rudd as Mr. Grooberson, Logan Kim as Phoebe’s classmate, Celeste O’Connor as Trevor’s classmate, Bill Murray as Dr. Peter Venkman, and Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz to name a few. It will be a sequel to a movie made thirty years ago.
Like all other projects of entertainment world this too has been delayed and as per the director Jason Reitman, this delay is going to do well for the movie. He said that the extra time he got would allow him to take a breath and be more creative. With an initial plan to launch the movie on 10th July 2020, the dates now have been shifted to 5th March 2021 because of the prevailing Corona Virus pandemic across the globe. No one had any idea about this situation and how this would affect the world.
Sony will take off from here and would venture out with the Ghostbusters legacy. This is their chance to bounce back and create something entertaining and successful with the legacy. There were issues with female-led ‘Ghostbusters: Answer the Call’ in 2016. It was a big failure and the movie did not do well in the box office.
The director who had spent his entire childhood on the sets of the prequels of the movie is confident that the movie would be worth a wait. While talking about how the new movie would look like he revealed that new movies would be more about passing the torch to the teenage Ghostbusters and not about fighting with supernatural powers. Jason Reitman also said that the “real DNA” of the invention has been infused in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It is still too early to predict how the movie would do at the box office but the efforts and thought process behind it would make it worth a watch.
Till we get to hear something more about the same stay at home and stay safe.
