One of the most famous shows of NBC the Good Place has not only been loved by fans but has also received critical acclaim for its acting, originality, setting, and tone. The show has won many awards as well. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end so did this show as it aired its last season from September 26, 2019, to January 30, 2020.
The show is a fantasy comedy and is created by Michael Scur who has created shows like The Office and Co-created Parks and Recreation. The show is set in a world where humans are either sent to the ‘Good Place’ or ‘Bad Place’ after they die based on the moral conduct of their life. Amidst this Eleanor Shellstrop and Jason Mendoza end up in the ‘Good Place’ even with their questionable morals and they try to blend in with others to keep staying in the ‘Good Place’. The show first premiered on September 19, 2016, and ran 4 seasons. The final episode for the show aired on 30th January 2020.
Why Is It Ending?
It seems like Good Place didn’t end due to a decrease in viewership or any other similar problem but it concluded due to the decision taken by the creators because of creative reasons and also because they think that the show should end before they run out of ideas. In an interview, we saw Michael Scur say, “Every time that we thought we should maybe extend something, we came back to that as the guiding principle, as the sort of North Star for the way we break stories, and it always led us to determine that it was better to cut something off before it runs out of juice. That always kept us on this pace to end everything after season four.” He also said the show has a specific idea and based on a specific narrative so I will just be waste to drag it longer than it should be.
How Did Season 4 End?

The show deals with a lot of philosophical questions and ideas. We see that there hasn’t been anyone qualified to enter the ‘Good Place’ for years which shows the system is flawed itself. We see in the last season a new season is implemented where humans have a chance to test their moral development and show that they can improve and eventually earn a place in the ‘Good Place’.
