1. Wolf Creek (Released On 2005)
The film earned seven Australian Film Institute nominations, including Best Director, and was named one of the 25 Best Films since The Shining by New York magazine.
This film follows three backpackers on a road trip who get themselves into trouble when they arrive at Wolf Creek, a remote location. When the car engine fails, a helpful stranger comes out of nowhere to assist them. Knowing the risks, they have no choice but to welcome his assistance. The horror continues after that.
It’s not a particularly enjoyable film. You’ll continue to dislike it by the end, but you’ll have to respect it and what it continues to do to you. While they remind you right away that it’s based on real events, I didn’t think they needed to.
It’s already starting to feel a little too real. You’d get the impression that someone was watching you with a camera. If you like films like Wrong Turn, Wolf Creek is a must-see.You can watch the trailer for Wolf Creek down below:

2. Eden Lake (Released On 2008)
Eden Lake tells the storey of an unfortunate young couple who are forced to face a vicious youth gang. They refuse to give in and let them ruin their romantic time, so they strike back, which has unfavourable consequences.
This film will astound you beyond your wildest expectations. I’ve seen a lot of torture films, but none have had the same impact on me as this one. It’s amazing how quickly things adjust. It starts off as a love film, but quickly transforms into a nightmare before returning to its original form as a vengeance film. You can watch the trailer for Eden Lake down below:

3. The Cabin In The Woods (Released On 2012)
Without giving too much away, it revolves around five friends who go on a weekend getaway to a small cabin in the woods and end up with more than they bargained for. As they struggle to figure out what is going on in the mysterious cabin, they must stick together and fight for life.
As one twist after another is shown in front of your eyes, this film will keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you’ve figured out the plot, a new series of perplexing questions arises.
In fact, you’ll never have a firm grasp on the plot until it’s over. I liked how they kept building up the suspense while gradually exposing everything. You can watch the trailer for The Cabin In The Woods down below:

4. The Strangers (Released On 2008)
The Strangers tells the story of a couple who are terrorised by three strangers who break into their remote holiday home. Things rapidly deteriorate as they become more violent with each passing moment. For all of the bizarre stories in the news these days, you can picture something like this happening anywhere in the country.
The film does an excellent job of creating suspense. From the start, it’s clear that things aren’t going to end well for the unfortunate pair. This film does a fantastic job of letting you experience their terror.
Bryan Bertino deserves credit for steering clear of cheap scares. Instead, he patiently builds suspense to the point that you feel something is going to snap. You’ll be double-checking your doors and windows by the end of the movie, trust me.You can watch the trailer for The Strangers down below:

5. Evil Dead (Released On 2013)
The original Evil Dead isn’t on this list because everybody has already seen it. Do yourself a favour and watch it if you haven’t already.
The plot picks up 30 years after the events of the first film. This time, a group of five friends gather in the same isolated cabin in order to help Mia overcome her opiate addiction. Her colleagues are standing by to assist her.
Things easily spiral out of control as they unwittingly call spirits from the surrounding forests. Mia is possessed, but everyone believes she is experiencing withdrawal effects. Is it too late for them to save themselves? To find out, watch Evil Dead. You can watch the trailer for Evil Dead down below:

6. Cabin Fever (Released On 2002)
The plot of Cabin Fever is very close to that of Evil Dead. The producer, Eli Roth, has said several times that the comparisons were intended to pay homage to his favourite films.
It’s about a group of kids who, after completing their final exams, rent a cabin in the mountains. Their good times are cut short as they contract a flesh-eating bacteria disease.
This film is terrifying. Is it the right option? Very likely not. There are more interesting films to enjoy. Cabin Fever, on the other hand, can pique your interest if you like films like Wrong Turn. You can watch the trailer for Cabin Fever down below:

7. Dead End (Released On 2003)
Who said a decent film has to cost a lot of money to make? Dead End was directed by Jean Baptiste Andrea and Fabrice Canepa and cost less than a million dollars to make.
It went on to show that with a limited budget, a minimal ensemble, and just a few places, a lot can be accomplished.
The story follows a party of relatives on their way to see their in-laws. They try to take a shortcut in order to get there faster, but this proves to be a big mistake. Can they make it out alive? You can watch the trailer for Dead End down below:

8. The Hills Have Eyes (Released On 2006)
Instead of the original, we get another remake. Again, if you haven’t already done so, watch the original film first.
The story revolves around a family who discovers a desolate atomic zone while on a road trip. It doesn’t take long for them to realise that this wasteland is far from empty. It’s home to a horde of bloodthirsty monsters that want nothing more than some raw human flesh.
The film begins slowly, establishing characters, before shifting gears and being violent, akin to Wrong Turn and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You can watch the trailer for The Hills Have Eyes down below:

9. The Descent (Released On 2005)
You’ll be haunted by The Descent for days. And, yes, you would never consider going cave spelunking.
The story follows a group of friends who embark on a cave exploration. When they are stuck inside the cave for good, what started off as an enjoyable afternoon turns tragic. They discover that they are being hunted by a gang of bloodthirsty beings who live in those caves while they struggle to find another way out. Will they be able to make it through the nightmare?
I’m not going to reveal any further details about the storyline. You’d like it even better if you didn’t know much about it.You can watch the trailer for The Descent down below:

10. The Ward (Released On 2010)
The storey follows a young woman who is caught torching a house and is taken to a nearby asylum. She encounters five other young women there, all of whom are suffering from a psychiatric illness.
Paranormal beings quickly traumatise all of them. No one trusts them, of course. Instead, a slew of red herrings and counselling sessions ensue, exacerbating the issue. Overall, The Ward, like Wrong Turn, is one of the best movies because it can keep you hooked till the very end. It’s well worth the time to watch. You can watch the trailer for The Ward down below:

11. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Released On 2003)
It would be a sin not to have this film. It’s a sequel of the original film, which came out in 1970. If you’ve seen the film, you’ll like this remake as well. The plot is unique enough to have you guessing all the way though.
When five unfortunate college students bang on the door of a remote homestead, they are greeted by a family of inbred psychopaths. Overall, it’s a well-made film with a strong build-up and compelling acting. While the first film feels at times like a boring documentary, this one is a straight-up horror film. Wrong Turn is a must-see film.
It’s not long until they discover their lives are in jeopardy because a cannibal with a chainsaw tries to strip their flesh off their bodies and use it to make a face mask for himself. You can watch the trailer for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre down below:
