The Hulu popular series is coming back for the fifth season officially for the Handmaid’s Tale fans. Although the show has just concluded its fourth season this week, viewers will be relieved that this new series of ten episodes will give us more to do. Although we will not release the next instalment until 2022, we began to collect what we know.
The show has been officially renewed for the fifth season with the announcement in the Instagram video with many cast members, including Elisabeth Moss, Alexis Bledel, Joseph Fiennes, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Bradley Whitford, Maidley Brewer, O.T. Fagbenle and Amanda Brugel.
Creator and promoter Bruce Miller said, “We are very thankful to Hulu and MGM for their support and the fifth season of the show. With our fantastic cast and crew, we’re pleased we could continue to tell these stories and cannot wait for the next season four to come back to the air.”
Miller told the show that the next chapter of the Handmaid’s storey is ready to reach a “focus.” In December 2020, however, while he was wondering if Season 5 was the last one, he commented, “I have to add that before the pandemic, I would have had quite different thoughts.”
He continued, “I mean, we spoke about it, we talked about it, and Lizzie and I, and I and the writers talked extensively about it, where we go exactly, but I feel it’s a good moment to reevaluate after this year. So I know where I am, and I feel like we are somehow pivotal, but whether this is the end or not, I don’t know. I know where I am. Just because the world in history has opened up because the real world has changed so much” feels like it’s a good moment to reassess what you thought.”
At a panel in the February television critics association, Miller stated that he didn’t envision an end to The Handmaid’s Tale, Deadline reported. “I will continue to go as long as Lizzie does it with me,” he laughed. “In this storey, there is a lot of life.”
He also referred to the role Hulu’s Testaments could play on-screen with adapting his sequel to Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid. “I am sure what will happen in the Testaments fascinated by this, which is a major concern if this is to be part of our future,” he continued. As fans, we will have to wait and watch how the show unfolds in its fifth season.
