The High School Musical franchise originally developed as a single Disney Channel original movie but due to its immense success, the movie was moved to the theatres and got two more sequels.
The original Peter Barsocchini movie then formed its own cult following, where teenagers literally worshipped the hot cast Zac Effron, Vanessa Hudgens, Lucas Gabriel, et cetera.
Though the first movie came out way back in 2006, it’s fanbase is still going strong, more than a decade later. Which led Disney to release a new series High School Musical:
The Musical: The Series, in its new streaming platform Disney+, this January, making it possible for the franchise to make the next generation of kids set exceedingly high expectations about their high school experience.
You can watch the trailer of the first season here-
The new series also has an amazing cast of Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Matt Cornett, and many others who are (surprisingly) actual teenagers, unlike the 27-year-old teenagers we see in other teen shows.
The show was well received and has a score of 7.3/10 on IMDb and has won the Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite TV actor.
The series was immediately renewed for the second season, considering its success. And much to the fans’ surprise, they’ve announced a holiday special!
This special will premiere on Disney+ on December 11, 2020, and will also contain some special sneak speaks of the next season too!
We hope this update made your day!
