The beloved historical novel by Min Jin Lee is finally about to get the recognition that it deserved over the years. A television adaptation of the novel Pachinko is under development wherein Korean icon Lee Min-ho has been confirmed to be a part of the project along with a stacked list of actors and experienced directors.
The 2017 book was heavily praised for its depiction of prejudice, institutional racism, and gripping intimacy under a distinct Asian lens and thanks to Apple TV+ as you’re about to see all of it again in a mesmerising visual format. The cast seems promising enough with Jung Woong-in, Minari star and veteran actress Youn Yuh-Jung, and Jung Eun-chae joining the project.
The story takes place between the period 1910 and 1989, however, the premise of the plot begins in 1883. War moments are likely to be highlighted in the adaptation. The plot would revolve around a Korean family making a settlement in Japan.
