In reality, he was Anakin Skywalker, the most celebrated hero of the Clone Wars. Darth Vader was known as a powerful being and an enigmatic and mysterious force. Let us find out which characters knew about his real identity.

Palpatine
Palpatine Sidious knew that Darth Vader was the Anakin Skywalker, and he was the who thought that it should be kept a secret. The main question is that did he tell his closest advisers about the secret, or did he enjoy the people not knowing about the mysterious Darth Vader.

Luke, Han, And Leia
Darth Vader told his secret to Luke in the Empire Strikes Back. Later on, Luke, who is the son of Darth Vader told the shocking truth to Leia. Some fans read about Leia being quite uncomfortable being the child of Darth Vader on Claudia Gray’s novel Bloodline. He was her father, but she remembered him as a torturer.
Later on, Leia began to think about what led her father to become Darth Vader and turn to the dark side. She also told the entire story to Han, and we assume that Han told Chewie.

C-3PO had lost his memories in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. We can assume that he knew the secret by eavesdropping Han and Leia’s conversation. But he did not tell anyone about Darth Vader’s secret unless somebody talked about it.
R2-D2 knew the secret from the start, and he restored C-3PO’s memories in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. So now, C-3PO knows the whole story.
