Pieces of a Woman portray a real-life story of the makers of the movie Kornel Mundruczo and Kata Weber.
Hungarian Filmmakers Kornel Mundruczo and Kata Weber are precisely known for their fable stories in movies like White God, Jupiter’s moon. They made the story too much fictional that it was very hard to grasp.
It was very surprising to everyone when the screenwriter Weber and Mundruczo put reality into their upcoming movie. Vanessa Kirby played the role of Martha and Shia LaBeouf played Sean’s role.
As the story of the movie the couple lost their baby daughter after birth. As mother Martha was struggling a lot with the loss of her child, Martha’s mother blame and sued the midwife for it.
The story is very much connected to the filmmaker. Kornel and Kata lost their child so they decided to come up with their own story. The writer wanted to depict how it feels when a woman lost her child and the whole family goes through the trauma.
The movie had a Gala screening in Toronto on 13th September.
In an interview, Kata Weber was asked about the movie’s connection with her. She commented that there are many connections between Martha and her even with her family. But they didn’t portray any personal part in the movie.
It just showed what was necessary. Many women lose their children and went through a very unforgettable trauma afterward. She said that she depicted the part of the woman when she was asked to move on with life and it so tough to deal with the same.
Both the director Mundruczo and writer Weber don’t even discuss their loss at home but the writer started to work on its own and her husband supported on the same.
It is very unlikely for a woman to depict her own story through a movie. But people will learn from this. It is a wonderful message for humankind.
