A new Netflix animated series based on the popular Magic: The Gathering card game will star Brandon Routh (Legends of Tomorrow). On Tuesday, he was announced as Gideon Jura during Wizards of the Coast’s Magic Showcase 2021 live stream.

When it premiered in June 2019, the anime series reunited well-known Planeswalkers with new ones to deliver a new story. “Magic: The Gathering” multiverse Planeswalker Gideon will be voiced by Routh in the Magic: The Gathering universe.

Since Klein succeeded Avengers: Endgame brothers Joe and Anthony Russo as the show’s creative director, the first season’s scripts have already been written and are ready for production. Melching is part of Klein’s team as co-executive producer and storey editor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

According to Routh, “for those of you who don’t know, Gideon has a reputation for being a strong guy who always stands up for what’s right” It’s now clear why they hired me. It all makes sense to me. But in all seriousness, I’m looking forward to this show, and I’m proud and honoured to be a part of it! As an avid Magic player, I’ve been playing since the age of sixteen. I’ve played a lot of draughts over the years, and I’ve accumulated many cards as a result. The answer is “more than I should. “

Planeswalkers, the most powerful beings in the Magic: The Gathering universe, are likely to feature prominently in the show’s plot. When Netflix first announced a Magic: The Gathering animated series in 2019, the Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo) were executive producers. Jeff Kline now oversees the project. Steve Melching, Audu Paden, Izzy Medrano and Nicole Dubuc, Russell Sommer, Dan Frey, and Taneka Stotts round out the new creative team.
