With such a great Box-office collection from both IT and IT Chapter 2 will we see the makers extend the story and make the third part? Let’s find out!
IT is a series of drama-horror movies based on the 1986 novel with the same name by Stephen King. The movie is about the town of Derry, Maine which is haunted by an Eponymous being which returns every 27 years to haunt the children. The first part centered on a group of 7 children who call themselves the ‘Losers Club’ living in Derry and how they faced the Eponymous being and the second part takes place 27 years after the events of part 1 and it shows the group who have now grown up. Part 2 of the movie concluded the story in the novel so will there be a 3rd part for the movie?
Is There A Possibility For The Third Part?
The movies have done great financially so even though the story has ended according to the novel Warner Bros might be looking into another part. The next movie may continue the story ahead but that would cheapen the ending since we saw the ‘Losers Club’ finally defeat Pennywise and free Derry of him and this time they remembered everything that happened.
So if the 3rd part is made it would either feature the ‘Losers Club’ kids or Pennywise both of which might cause the 2nd part ending to become less significant and might not the best decision. However, they can make a prequel to the movies since some mythological elements and IT/Eponymous being origins were left out of the movie.
Some Theories For The Third Part
If we go according to the novels some mythological elements weren’t included in the movie such as the wider Macroverse and the origin of Eponymous being/IT. We have seen Director of both movies Andy Muschietti saying “Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It has been on Earth for millions of years. He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material.” This doesn’t mean that he will explore it and make another movie however this can be the premise of the third part if there is one. The movie might get a spin-off movie even a show but we will have to wait and see whether we will see Pennywise again.
