Another series bites the dust! Becoming a God in Central Florida season 2 has been canceled by Showtime due to an ongoing pandemic. Many other series are affected too, and the company has reversed its season’s pickup decision.

In September 2019, the second part of the series got renewed. But later on, the production got delayed due to a global pandemic. The creators halted all the filming process in the mid-March 2020.

The Network Cancels On Becoming a God in Central Florida

Recently, the Network told a source that the COVID pandemic is challenging the tight schedules of the series across the board. They made every effort to renew the series that now become untenable.

They also tried to reunite all the cast and crew for the upcoming season. The Network said with great regret that On Becoming a God in Central Florida will not return with a new season.

The Network also thanked actor and executive producer Kirsten Dunst, partners at Sony Pictures Television, executive producers George Clooney, Grant Heslov and Charlie McDowell, creators Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky, showrunner Esta Spalding, as well as the cast and crew of the series.

The series centered on Krystal Stubbs (Dunst) plots to ruin powerful Obie Garbeau II (Levine), who runs a multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme.

Krystal is working as a water park employee who receives a minimum wage. She decides to con everybody and make her way up to the ranks of FAM and make her life better.

Later on, she gets deeply involved with Founders American Merchandise’s follower Cody (Pellerin). Soon she finds herself between the chaos when her business begins to affect the people close to her, which include Bets (Ditto) and her husband Ernie (Rodriguez).

Many other series have reached their dead ends due to coronavirus. Recently, Netflix decided to cancel the final season of GLOW. Just like On Becoming a God in Central Florida, the company had previously ordered its fourth season, but now they won’t proceed with it.

Apart from that, I Am Not Okay With This season 2 and The Society season 2 had become the latest casualty of production shut down, and now, they got canceled as well. All these series were canceled after realizing the significant added costs due to COVID pandemic, balancing the availability of actors, as well as the uncertainty around production dates.
