This American Sitcom has been running for 8 seasons, although it has seen some ups and downs the show is still one of the most popular sitcoms on Fox. So, will there be a Season 9 for the show? Let’s find out!
The show is set in Denver, Colorado, and follows the life of Mike Baxter a senior executive and director of marketing for an outdoor sporting goods store. Mike is married and has 3 daughters and is also a grandfather to his eldest daughter’s son.
The show originally aired on ABC from 2011 to 2017 for 6 seasons but was canceled after 6 seasons. It was later picked up by Fox and season 7 of the show premiered on Fox on September 28, 2018.
Release Date And The Effect Of Ongoing Pandemic
The show has been renewed for the 9th season and was officially announced by Fox on May 19, 2020. Fox has also renewed a medical drama The Resident and it is believed that Last Man Standing and The Resident both will be released sometime in 2021 as the production will begin when the conditions improve amidst the ongoing Pandemic.
Cast And Will Kaitlyn Dever Return?
The cast of the show will be similar to the previous seasons without much change. We will see Tim Allen as Michael Martin “Mike” Baxter, Amanda Fuller as Kristin Beth Baxter, Molly McCook as Amanda Elaine “Mandy” Baxter-Anderson. Eve Baxter played by Kaitlyn Dever has had a recurring role for the last 2 seasons as opposed to a regular one as seen in season 1 to 6.
This was because of her other commitments and busy schedule so fans are wondering whether we will see her in this season or not. Showrunner Kevin Abbott expressed that the goal is to get Kaitlyn Dever back for the season and her involvement will depend on how busy her schedule is when the production for Season 9 is underway.
As fans, we can only hope she can get some time out of her schedule and hopefully has more involvement in the 9th season.
