Adrian Dunbar, who stars in the latest season of Line of Duty, has requested that one specific character return.
Detective Constable by Neil Morrissey Nigel Morton last appeared in Series 3 of the hit BBC drama – but considering that he is still alive, the possibility of a return is very real.
“I would really like to see Neil Morrissey’s character Nigel [return], who’s still alive, he’s still out there, he’s still in possession of some stuff, I’m sure of it,” the Ted Hastings actor told Digital Spy and other press.
“And I’d love to see him return because, above all, he’s definitely the finest entertainment officer any crew has ever seen. And for that cause alone, you’d like Neil on the job “Added he.
“Can we initiate something, please?” the actor pleaded.
It’s uncertain if Morrissey will return for Series 6, but Kelly Macdonald, who plays DCI Joanne Davidson, is a recent addition to the cast. The actress recently commented on her tenure on the hit series, saying: “It’s almost as if I’m the new Bond or something. Alternatively, Doctor Who might be compared.”
She’ll be accompanying Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), and Hastings on AC-12 (Dunbar). Season six of Line of Duty premieres on BBC One on Sunday, March 21 at 9 p.m. Boxsets of the first five seasons are now available to watch.
