Lion King 2 could be better than the original live-action. Following the latest news that the sequel is now being made, Disney has a golden chance to produce a sequence that stands out and is special compared with the first short film.
The movie amounted to more than $1 billion at the box office, both reviewers and viewers were somewhat lukewarm on the film. It was not acceptable in the minds of anyone, precisely because it was just a story from the original film that was re-telling with photorealism with a new mouthpiece.
While the first film did not resonate meaningfully with the viewers, its huge box office traffic led Disney directly to a follow-up directed by Barry Jenkins of Moonlight. Not many specifics about the film are at this point available, but it has a tremendous potential to be a video experience more immersive than its precursor.
Lion King 2 may have a new storyline?
Although there is very little justification for the vocal opponents of The Lion King 2019 to have confidence in yet another Disney Live-Action product, there is one significant benefit that the sequel has over its predecessor: it can tell a truly original story.
A big point of critique of the remake was that it seemed useless: it did not try to retell the story in any significant way, but only preferred to reuse the very same plot points by photo-realistic animation.
The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride is potentially an official sequel to the plot of the original; however, it seems extremely clear that Disney will not adapt the plot to this forthcoming project for the reasons listed above.
Reports say that the sequel will be a plot prequel, describing the rise of Mufasa as King of the Pride Lands, something that is only slightly hinted at in the first film.
The Lion King’s reboot has always battled a difficult war, explaining its own life. Instead of hanging on to the tradition of one of the best animation films of all time, it can conquer completely new territories by creating its plot and content.
It only adds to the overall feeling of suspense if Barri Jenkins, one of the best-known Indie directors of the new generation is working on the follow-up. We need to wait for the release to know what happens. So till then stay tuned with us and enjoy reading.
