Back in 2016, David Ayer (End of Watch) was the first filmmaker to bring DC’s strangest band of evildoers to the big screen, but despite grossing over $746 million at the box office, it failed to impress reviewers.
Fans are calling for Zack Snyder’s unaltered version of Suicide Squad in the wake of the release on HBO Max of his Justice League.
Before disclosing whether she’d be interested in watching the Ayer cut, Robbie told Variety, “I believe that’s all a really delicate thing that I am probably not responsible for.”
I’d like to see the edit of every movie I’ve been in that I’ve never seen, she said. “You don’t really get to witness the different incarnations along the road unless you’re a producer,” she said.
This summer’s Suicide Squad soft reboot had John Cena as Peacemaker. He offered his thoughts on the subject.
Why not, he asked? “It’s in a company’s best interest to listen to its audience.”
It’s currently available in UK and US cinemas. As well as HBO Max in the United States, the film will be available for 31 days following its initial release.
