Ghetts, a grime veteran, received his first Mobo for the best male act after more than 15 years in the industry. Conflict of Interest has been hailed as one of the best rap albums of the year.
However, he was defeated in the album category by Dave, who won for his second album, We’re All Alone in This Together. Little Simz took home the prize for the best female act, which was also her first Mobo triumph.
The procedure is as follows: MC After having two of the genre’s biggest singles, Obsessed With You and Commitment Issues both ranked in the Top 10, Central Cee received two awards: best rookie and the inaugural best drill act award.
The drill was also nominated for song of the year, which went to the explosive remix of Tion Wayne and Russ Millions’ Body, the first drill tune to hit No 1 in the UK, and video of the year, which went to M1llionz’s Lagga (directed by Teeeezy C).
Wizkid, a Nigerian musical sensation, took home two trophies, one for best African talent and the other for the best international act.
For the first time since 2017, the event was broadcast live at Coventry Building Society Arena. In 2018 and 2019, there were no awards, and in 2020, there was simply a virtual ceremony.
It featured live performances by Ghetts, Pa Salieu, Stefflon Don and Ms. Banks, Bree Runway, Potter Payper, Terms, NSG, and Enny, and was hosted by Munya Chawawa and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
