Netflix’s Selena: The Series Trailer Reveals December Release Date

The Tejano singer’s biography gears up for its big digital release

Singer, songwriter, actress, fashion designer and spokesperson, there was nothing the Latina artist was not capable of. Labelled as one of the most celebrated Mexican-American artists of the 20th century, Selena’s contribution to music earned her the title of the Queen of Tejano music. Anf rightly so, she became the Tejano Madonna, a role model, for little Latinas all over the world.

However, unfortunately, on March 31, 1995, the world lost one of the most talented artists and an influential figure in the Latino community. Selena was shot and killed by her ex-manager Yolanda Saldivar who was accused of embezzling funds from Selena’s fan club and boutiques just 16 days before her 24th birthday.

Alas, lost too young but not forgotten, Selena’s life was documented in multiple documentaries, films and stand-alone episodes in anthology web series. However, none of them extensively indulged into the singer’s lifestyle… until now.

Netflix’s is coming up with a biographical web drama that is based on Selena’s life titled Selena: The Series. The drama is written by Moisés Zamora and directed by Hiromi Kamata.
