The Masked Singer US has another trick up its sleeve for season five, which premieres next week.
New Wildcard rounds will be held during the competition, but that isn’t the only change in store; it turns out that a special ‘clue-meister’ will include clues as to the identities of the masked singers.
They even have a name: Cluedle-Doo.
Cluedle-Doo will go unnoticed when making their usual onstage appearances, until their rooster mask is torn off at some point (it’s unclear if this will happen at the end of the season or not).
In other Masked Singer news, after crowning Joss Stone as this year’s champion in the Sausage suit, season three of the UK version is already in the works.
“Really wild high concept concepts” are still being thrown around, according to executive producer Dan Nettleton.
“We don’t want this to be the same every year,” he said, “partly because the beauty of the format is that you can do crazy things.”
“There are limits on where you can take a conventional talent show, but with a show that relies on Badgers singing against Sausages and Blobs, there really isn’t one.”
