Everyone has their own favourite when it comes to horror, whether it is The Conjuring, or The Night of Living Dead. Those who love watching the horror movies while growing up must have some of the movies that scared the heck out of them. Similarly, Omari Hardwick, star of the latest upcoming movie Spell has his own story to tell while growing up.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, Hardwick was asked about the film that scares him the most. He told them that it was The Shining of Stanley Kubrick that made him sleepless.
Here’s what he said, “The Shining was a problem. I probably watched that when I wasn’t supposed to. Probably the movie that was equally scary was Children of the Corn. And then I remember looking at shows that were rated R but wasn’t necessarily scary… Equally, things that were naughty — but in a different kind of naughty that I shouldn’t have been watching — were equally scary.”
It was The Shining that made him fall in love with horror movies. He further added, “I never really watched Poltergeist or any of those or The Exorcist, but Jack Nicholson, you know, ‘Here’s Johnny!’ That one’s a classic.”
The way Hardwick praised The Shining today, its extremely hard to believe that the movie in 80’s had received so many mixed reviews. It was until 2000 when the movie received an actual proper recognition.
No one can doubt the taste of Omari Hardwick when it comes to horror movie. With his character in Spell, he is now one of the stars joining the league of Supernatural thrillers. And when it comes to someone who spent their childhood watching those film, it would be a great feeling for them.
Spell is now streaming on digital platforms.
