Outer Banks fans are elated after Netflix officially renewed the series for season 2. It is an adventure, teen drama, adventure, and action series created by Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, and Jonas Pate. The story revolves around four teenagers, who go on an adventure to find a legendary treasure connected to his father’s disappearance. The series aired on April 15, 2020, on Netflix.

As soon as Netflix dropped the debut season, the series gained a rating of 6.72 out of 10 and an approval rating of 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. On Metacritic, it gained favorable reviews and scored 61 out of 100. The critics revealed that it is a teen adventure series that will keep the viewers hooked till the end. Netflix gave green light to Outer Banks season 2

Netflix gave the best news amid the Covid-19 pandemic, by making an official announcement about the season 2. After hearing the news, fans of this teen drama cannot control their excitement. Netflix confirmed this news on Twitter by simply tweeting that the show has been renewed for the second season.

Outer Banks season 1 storyline: What will happen in the upcoming season?

If you haven’t watched the show yet, then let us explain the plot of season 1 to you. The 20-episode takes the viewers to an adventure. The teem drama centers around four best friends, John B (Chase Stokes), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey). Their group is called the “Pogues”, and they reside in the Outer Banks. It is a beach holiday spot located in North Carolina. 

One day, the group makes a life-altering decision after a hurricane destroys their town’s power. Numerous events lead this group to a treasure. The previous season concluded with a huge cliffhanger. John B gets framed for a murder and runs away from the cops. He takes Sarah along with him and escapes inland via a boat named Phantom.

However, the boat soon ends capsizing in a tropical storm. Everybody assumes both of them are dead, and their friends are seen mourning in the last episode. Later on, John and Sarah are rescued by a fishing boat. In the end, they realize, that there is still a possibility to recover the gold. So they decide to travel to the Bahamas.

The story is far from over, and we can expect more adventures in the upcoming season. We might see Sarah and John arriving in the Bahamas to find the gold and the wreckage.

Outer Banks Season 2 production update:

The production of season 2 hasn’t started filming yet. On May 2020, creator and executive producer Jonas Pate disclosed that he and his team are working on the scripts. So this means, the show hasn’t passed the pre-production stage yet.

Apart from that, Jonas revealed to Entertainment Weekly, that they are planning to lengthen the story up to four seasons.  He also added that he is looking forward to getting a chance to tell those stories to the fans. We will keep you posted once we get any new information about season 2.
