Paurashpur is an original web series that airs on ALTBalaji and ZEE5 in Hindi. Baljit Singh Chaddha produced a web series directed by Sachindra Vats and produced by Sachin Mohite under the banner of Jaasvand Entertainment. Shahe Sheikh Star, Annu Kapoor, Milind Soman, and Shilpa Shinde are among the cast members. This series was launched on December 29, 2020. The series received mostly negative feedback, with many criticising the sexual content that was written and overused.
Paurushpur is appropriate for viewers over the age of 18. Milind Soman, Shilpa Shinde, Flora Sainy, Annu Kapoor, Sahheer Sheik, Poulomi Das, and Sahil Salathy’s works are magnificent. It’s a magnificent opera about conspiracies, policies, treason, patriarchy, pleasure, and power. With their blood-flowing swords, big bands, majestic suits, and an erotic twist, the Paurashpur series reveals the bitter truth behind the King’s evil rule, women, and the third gender. Will they be successful?
You can’t even break through when watching the latest ZEE5 offering, Paurashpur. After only a few episodes, I know that’s a bold claim. But if you’ve been watching OTT titles over the last few months and then sit down to watch this Ekta Kapoor series, you’ll understand exactly what I mean.
Shilpa Shinde, Annu Kapoor, Milind Soman, Shaheer Sheik, and Flora Saini are among the cast members. But none of them can salvage a pitiful effort. The creators of Paurashpur Maybe you think this show is a groundbreaking epic drama about lust, revenge, and patriarchy. However, it has been discovered to be soft porn. There are some unnecessary sex scenes that were shot in an unattractive manner. Annu Kapoor and one of his queens appear in some disturbing scenes. Poor CGI and lighting exacerbate the situation.
This horror film may or may not have redeeming qualities. I struggled with the first two episodes; good luck to the series’ revisers.

The story is set in the Kingdom of Paurashpur, ruled by King Bhadra Pratap Singh (Annu Kapoor), where women are regarded as objects that satisfy men’s desires. Women have no place in society; they must perform the ‘Sati’ ritual following their husband’s death and are required to wear the ‘Chastity belt’ with private sections that lock. They are also regarded as men’s’slaves.’ And anyone who defies these rules is publicly executed. She ensures that her “carnal” needs are met by providing him with young queennes in order to satisfy the king’s first wife, but they mysteriously vanish from the palace. Boris (Milind Soman), who continues to annoy the King, has a connection to the Queens’ kidnapping. Is there ever hope for female gender equality in this highly patriarchal society? This show will attempt to provide a response.
This seven-part series, directed by Shachindra Vats, has a lot going for it: a good arrangement, a good cast, and a strong background score. Each episode of the drama ends abruptly, slowing the series’ overall pace. The 16th century, on the other hand, is represented by lovely set and costumes that contribute to the overall appearance and feel of the series.
The writers – Baljeet Singh Chaddha, Rajesh Tripathi, Chital Rajesh Tripathi, and Ranveer Pratap Singh – had so many potential elements and needed more effort, but it appears that this concept is half-heartedly implemented. Many loose ends continue to disturb viewers’ perspectives throughout the film. So, what’s the deal with Boris and the King? Is it due to discrimination or something else? What is the significance of Meeravati as the favourite King’s Queen? It should be an erotic drama as well, but the scenes are uninteresting and cliché.
Only Milind Soman can save the show because he gives his character, Boris. He does an excellent job of portraying a transgendered person, but he also appears to be smoking hot in that outfit. Annu Kapoor gives a good performance and manages to instil hatred for him. Shilpa Shinde played the brainy Queen Meeravati admirably. In general, despite the lack of profundity in the writing, the characters leave an impression.
Finally, the plot of “Paurashpur” depicts the status of women in society and addresses critical issues such as patriarchy, gender politics, and power. However, due to its lacklustre efforts, it becomes a tedious watch. The season concludes with Shaheer Sheikh’s introduction of “Veer Singh,” who will be a leader in the next season and help to tie up loose ends.
