The first official trailer for Power Book III: Raising Kanan, the next chapter in the Power world, has been released, as the franchise revisits the narrative of its primary character Kanan Stark.
Raising Kanan is a prequel to the original Power series, set in 1991 and starring Mekai Curtis as a young Kanan. It explores the coming of age of Ghost and Tommy’s mentor, companion, and antagonist.
A new full-length teaser has come ahead of the release of Power Book III, in which fans are introduced to a youthful Kanan. “This is my experience,” he starts. “It is a family saga in Queens, Jamaica, on the Southside.”
Raising Kanan begins with a 15-year-old Kanan, as sole son of Raquel ‘Raq’ Thomas, a cocaine dealer portrayed by Patina Miller, in the 1990s.
According to the summary, “Such as the original Power,” Raising Kanan “identifies issues of identity, aggression, legacy, as well as a deep dive into family psychopathology; the unique, complicated, and strained relationship between parent and child, mother and father, brother and sister.”
After actor Mekai Curtis described the distinctions between the younger Kanan we’ll see in Raising Kanan and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson’s portrayal, the new teaser for Power Book III was released.
“I feel contemporary Kanan varies from elder Kanan in regards of instinct and feeling of what Kanan stood for,” he previously remarked.
“He is a 15-year-old youngster who still is figuring himself what he’s about he wants to accomplish in his life. He’s attempting to find out where to adapt and adjust in order to be there for both his family and himself.”
