It may come as surprise but this was Netflix’s first African original series. The show received a lot of success and was praised for its plot and well-executed action sequences. So will see the 2nd season for the show? Let’s find out!
The show is a crime drama series and is created by Kagiso Lediga. The show follows the secret agent Queen Sono. She is investigating the death of her mother who was an anti-apartheid revolutionary leader as she tries to uncover the threats that could affect her country or even the whole continent. The show was released on February 28, 2020, and had 6 action-packed episodes. Netflix has confirmed the show will be renewed and announced the same on April 28, 2020.
Expected Release Date
The show has been renewed recently and is in the early stages of production so it’s hard to fix a release date right now, also with the ongoing Pandemic we aren’t sure when the shooting will start. We can hope that the shooting starts soon and we can see the 2nd season sometime next year. We will let you know when there is a fixed release date.
Who Will Be In The Cast
We saw some death in the 1st season so it seems like that they won’t be returning for the 2nd season however majority of the cast from the 1st season would return. We will see Pearl Thusi as Queen Sono, Vuyo Dabula as Shandu Johnson Magwaza, Khathu Ramabulana as William Chakela, Enhle Maphumulo as Nova, and Kate Liquorish as Ekaterina Gromova again in the 2nd season along with a few more cast members. Unfortunately, we saw Queen’s grandmother Mazet played by Abigail Kubeka, get killed by Ekaterina so we won’t be seeing her again.
Plot And More About The Show
At the end of the 1st season, we saw Queen, realizing that her mother’s assassins were the same people who she works for SOG. We also saw Russia’s plan to take over Africa for Africa’s precious Earth metal reserves. Things are getting worse for Queen as we saw her grandmother was also killed by Ekaterina who is the heiress to the Gromova crime family of Russia. We will see Queen out for blood next season as she lost her only living familial connection further flaming her feud with Ekaterina.
