The first season of Drifters was aired between October 2016 and December 23, 2016. The series was written and illustrated by Kouta Hiranao and is television n series which is derived from a popular manga of the same name. The series had gained a lot of appreciation and love from fans but somehow four years have passed by and we do not have any concrete intimation about a season two coming live. Therefore, we cannot expect a trailer or a teaser to be around.
Last season had twelve episodes each filled with action and excitement and were directed by Kenichi Suzuki. NBC Universal Entertainment Japan had produced the same. The animation designs were by Ryoji Nakamori, where Hideyuki Kurata and Yosuke Kuroda had written the screenplay.
As said earlier there is no confirmation around the second season of the series hence no update on the release date. Interestingly there was a message for fans and a hope in the concluding episode of the first season. The message as we all know said that see you again and to be continued in the second season, signing off as Tokyo 20XX Sayonara (bye-bye).
The puzzle is about the ‘XX’ in ‘20XX’ as we do know there will be a season two but when? If we think about season two in 2020, well I don’t think so that will be possible because of the prevailing pandemic situation around the globe which has either delayed or stopped for this year. But we never know we might get to hear something next year.
By now we know that manga series are basically Japanese shows. The voice cast in season one was done by Japanese artists and we need not feel sad as the English version (dubbed) of the season is available on Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Funimation. The popularity of the season led to the bonus episodes which can be enjoyed on these channels.
The story is about the Battle of Sekigahara and a war hero named Shimazu Toyohisa along with historical figures. These were called in a different world and the group was called ‘Drifters’. As a group and by design they were supposed to help each other with their fighting and war skills along with sharing the magical skills with magicians like elves, dwarves, and hobbits. In addition, there were inhabitants of the other world whom they had to protect from enemy named ‘Ends’. The story has been narrated in the 1600 era.
As promised that there will be a season two, whenever it happens, we expect that it will connect the two seasons as the concluding season said to be continued.
