Written by Tom Moran, the six-part show follows Lucy Chambers, a single mother who finds herself inexplicably linked to a string of brutal murders after looking into the terrifying visions that wake her at 3.33am every night.

Filming is expected to take place in the UK later this year, ahead of its exclusive release on Amazon Prime Video.

The Devil’s Hour is a gripping story from an exciting new voice, with a dream team behind and in front of the camera,” said Georgia Brown, Director of European Amazon Originals for Prime Video.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Tom, Steven and Sue on this new project, and we can’t wait to share news of the great British talent set to feature in this series.”

“We are genuinely delighted to be one of the first UK Originals that Prime Video has commissioned,” Vertue stated, noting that the duo are “thrilled that Tom Moran and his big brain have trusted [production company] Hartswood [Films], and Johnny Allan the director, with the wonderful task of bringing his scripts to life”.

Former Doctor Who showrunner Moffat and Vertue will executive produce alongside Moran.

The husband-and-wife team first worked together when Vertue produced two-episode special Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death back in 1999, and Moffat-written sitcom Coupling a year later. Since then, they have teamed up on series such as Sherlock and Dracula.
