With its two final seasons, Snowpiercer continued to thrill, stir, and baffle – and you know that you are in good company if you felt you were left with unanswered questions.
Fans saw Jennifer Connelly’s character Melanie’s death in a closed season of two after having explained from the research station that she stepped into the Freeze to die in a final letter.
After expending her money, Melanie made the greatest sacrifice, believing she would survive her data and give humankind a combating opportunity.
Speaking to the reporters of the Show’s choice to expand the destiny of Melanie, CEO Becky Clements disclosed the concept of “the Research Center” in Jennifers’ “hectic professional life” and “the time collision that led us to the end of the season.”
She added to her statement and said, “Having the ticking clock of, We need to make sure we have someplace to be at a certain time!’ is always valuable, and with a very limiting Wilford always wondering what is happening. I don’t know if I’m going on record that she is ‘done for’, but I don’t know that she is alive.”
As for the aforementioned ‘fate’ of Melanie, it turns out it’s not as straightforward as we thought at first. Clements said that Melanie might have survived her walk into the Freeze and admitted that “she would” remain alive.
It is up to us to consider whether Melanie will live past the third season, but we know that she will return somehow, as Jennifer Connelly confirmed to take over her role officially.
“We are pleased that Jennifer will join us for season three,” said Clements.
