During an interview, when asked about the plot of the upcoming season, Kurtzman said that they made a pretty radical jump into the future at the end of season two. So, in the next season of the series, they are proceeding nearly 1000 years into the future. Indeed, they will be going so further in the future that none of the Trek series has ever gone before. I know, it really sounds crazy, but it is what Kurtzman revealed. He even mentioned that this journey into the future would be a part of the fun and the audience will certainly enjoy as well honour it.
